More Info About Me And My Journey

Before I discovered hypnosis and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), I spent many years running my own
business as a freelance Business Analyst and working for large companies helping them implement complex
IT solutions. One of the tasks that I frequently got involved with was Business Process Re-engineering (BPR).

The objective of BPR is to rethink and redesign the way work is done to better support the company’s goals,
create more effective ways of doing things, improve customer service and ultimately improve the way they do
business.

In 2015 I set up Elegant Thinking, to help people re-engineer their lives. I wanted to help people improve their
results by thinking differently!

Whether it be learning to be confident when presenting in front of a large (or small) audience, getting over a
fear or phobia, or giving up smoking or alcohol, all change starts in the mind. We routinely upgrade our phones
and computers, so why do we still run the same thinking processes that we learned as children?

I started on my personal transformation when I took an NLP course about 8 years ago. NLP is the practice of
understanding how people organise their thinking, feeling, language and behaviour to produce the results they
do. I loved it, and it, in turn, led me to further study and to become a qualified hypnotherapist.

After that, I learned Thought Field Therapy (sometimes called Tapping), took a life coaching course, and learned
to teach meditation. I take continuing professional development very seriously and regularly attend further
trainings.

Elegant Thinking was created to help you find solutions to your problems. You are unique, and so is the reason
you come to see me. I create a personal program which tailors the approach to suit you. By combining Hypnosis,
TFT, NLP and coaching techniques, I design sessions around you.

What Is Hypnosis?

When you are hypnotised, it is a bit like that feeling you get just before you go to sleep. It enables a person to
achieve a profound state of deep relaxation, reducing mental stress and bodily tension, and entering a trance
state.

A common worry is that you will not be in control, but let me assure you that you will be. I can help you with the
power of suggestion, but I cannot, and would not, make you do something you did not want to do. Even when
hypnotised, people can still reject any of the suggestions given if they are not appropriate.

How Does It Work?

When a hypnotherapist induces a hypnotic trance, it by-passes the critical factor of the mind. The client becomes
highly aware and focused, while allowing the unconscious mind to open up, and become more susceptible to
suggestion, that is, more capable of taking on a behaviour that is outside their comfort zone.

It is the unconscious mind that needs to change for lasting results to occur. Trance states are completely natural
and we already go into trance states several times a day – for example when we day dream. You will be in a “light
trance” and if the fire alarm went off you would be able to get up and walk away.

Of course while in hypnosis you cannot be ‘made’ to do something. Hypnosis cannot ‘make’ you stop an addiction,
or lose weight. What it does is help to alter your thoughts, actions and feelings – so that you change your motivations.

You may be familiar with media representations of hypnosis used for entertainment, but hypnotherapy is about
using the power of hypnosis for positive change, not for entertainment, and the well-being of the client always comes
first.

Over the past few years, neuroscience has revolutionised the way we see the brain. Scientists now understand that
the brain is rewiring itself constantly, adding new circuits at the same time that it’s deleting unused pathways. So if
you want to change something, get different results, feel more in control, it all starts with changing the way you look
at things, and learning to think in a different way so that you can build new circuits.

Is It Safe?

Yes – hypnosis is safe, relaxing and effective. You cannot get stuck in hypnosis. You will be aware of what is happening
and most people do not “feel hypnotised,” but you will feel very relaxed.

Your emotional well-being really matters to your overall health and happiness. By harnessing the power of your mind,
we are able to create extraordinary outcomes.
